SUMMARY:La Posada - Petrified Forest/Painted Desert 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join the club on a tour to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert with Dinner and Overnight at the La Posada Hotel in Winslow\, AZ.  Optional Day Two visit to Meteor Crater. \nOur tour will begin in Prescott\, stopping in Camp Verde for Flagstaff and Verde Valley members to join up. Then we’ll head up Highway 260 and on through Pine\, Payson and the White Mountains to Heber/Overgaard where we’ll turn north up to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert.  Dinner and overnight at La Posada Hotel.  Register HERE. \n  \nDetails\nWednesday\, September 25th: \n\nPrescott departure: The tour will depart from Prescott at 8:00 am from the Maverick gas station in Dewey.  Please be there ready to go by 7:45am for the drivers meeting.  The group will proceed from there to Camp Verde and join with the other participants.\nSedona/Verde Valley\, Flagstaff members departure:  Camp Verde at the Burger King on Highway 260 just a couple blocks East from the I-17 exit for members joining the drive from other areas. Please be at Burger King no later than 8:15 am. The route will continue on AZ 260 to AZ 87 into Payson with a break at the Speedway gas station on Highway 260 (701 AZ-260).\nLunch will be at the Painted Desert Diner: See the menu and information HERE\nAfter lunch we will proceed to the Painted Desert Park followed by a drive through the Petrified Forest.  More information on stop points within the parks is forthcoming.  Bring your Golden Eagle/Golden Age/Senior passes for free entry to these parks.\nThe entire drive will be on Porsche-friendly paved roads\, no off-roading!   More details coming with speicific stops and timing\n6;30 pm dinner at La Posada’s Turquoise Room.  Individual checks and the full menu is available\n\nThursday\, September 26th: \n\nOPTIONAL Trip on Day TWO:  Those interested will drive to Meteor Crater for a visit.  Depart La Posada at 10:00 am.  Approximate arrival at Meteor Crater visitor center is 10:30 am.  Return home via scenic Highways 87 and 260 back into Camp Verde or via I40 to I17 express route.\n\nHotel\n\nLa Posada Hotel La Posada Hotel: 303 E. 2nd Street (Route 66)  Winslow\, AZ 86047  928.289.4366  http://laposada.org/\nTo reserve rooms\n\nContact La Posada (928) 289-4366 and make your room reservation using Group Code AZMT092524\nA block of 10 rooms is being held.
